After moving to New York in 1990, traveling the world, living and working in both Japan and Berlin, Detroit born Marlon Orr finally resettled in New York and entered the design market in early 2001.

The last 23 years have been spent navigating through the design industry via groundbreaking THE APARTMENT on Crosby Street where he helped discover and create a platform for some of the city’s newest and most revolutionary players within contemporary design.

However, with a background in art, a passion for unique objects and with the mind and an eye of a collector, there is no surprise that Orr eventually gravitated to vintage furniture with a focus and passion for mid century design.

Olivia Wells Rerick completed her certification as a Master Mosaicist at the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli in Spilimbergo, Italy, in 2016. Since then, she has worked designing architectural mosaics, fabricating public art installations, and in various A&D sales, as well as making mosaic art pieces. Born in Brooklyn, and having grown up in Italy, she developed a deep appreciation for beautifully designed spaces, and the value of filling them with meaningful pieces.

It’s safe to say that the antique world is one of the most important things in my life. I grew up in beautiful San Francisco and was lucky enough to spend my childhood surrounded by beautiful antique pieces and artwork. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank my mother, Candace Barnes, for that and quite naturally I began working at her antique showroom at a young age. During that time I developed the ability to not only move very heavy marble slabs but also perfectly hang any mirror or art, which I still pride myself on. 

After graduating with an Economics degree I realized that the design and antique world was a fundamental part of me and something I will always need to be immersed in. I therefore began working at 1stdibs, where I worked in both dealer and advertising sales for close to 11 years. All of this led me to Newel, and I couldn’t be more excited to be here with this amazing team and surrounded by such beautiful pieces. It is a wonderful feeling when you are able to go to work each day knowing that you are doing what you love. 

My name is Courtney Adams and I’ve just recently joined the Newel team, working at our gallery on 61st Street.  Prior to this, I worked at Ralph Lauren for many years, starting in our stores before moving to Ralph Lauren Home in a corporate position. In that role, I managed all our specialty stores globally, as well as the Ralph Lauren Home Showroom.  For each project, I worked to create spaces that were respectful of local design and culture, while ensuring that our brand aesthetic was translated through all design choices. I’ve spent the last two years freelancing on design projects ranging from retail spaces to residential staging, as well as working as a designer/project manager for a local design firm. Coming from that background, I am so excited to spend my day surrounded by beautiful antiques, as well as getting to work with such an exceptional team!
