Congratulations to the designers of the inaugural Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas, Texas edition! The Kips Bay Decorator Show House launched in 1973 in NYC to raise funds for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, an after-school enrichment program for children. For more than four decades, Newel has collaborated with several designers featured in the show house helping to bring their vision to life, and we are so excited to see this charitable event make its way to Dallas, Texas.
This year Newel worked with designer Cathy Kincaid on her old-world dining room. From the ornamental plaster to the hand-stenciled walls, the sunny yellow dining room is filled with intricate craftsmanship. The globally inspired dining room features many exquisite antiques, but we are particularly partial to the Syrian inlaid pearl, bone, and ebony mirror from Newel.
The Kips Bay Designer Show House Dallas is open to the public now through October 25th, 2020. Tickets and more information can be found here.
Q
Can you tell us about your inspiration for your room?
A.
I was inspired by the work of Alidad, the award winning international designer whose childhood was spent in Persia which he credits as being the inspiration for his design style.
Q
Do you have a favorite room other than your room?
A.
I love the “Beauchene Kitchen & Prep Kitchen” designed by Chad Dorsey. The color of the cabinets in the Prep Kitchen, which is like a modern day scullery is fabulous as is the brass hardware.
Q
What is your favorite piece from your room?
A.
Q
What excites you most about participating in the designer show house? What do you hope comes from it?
Q
How did you go about sourcing furniture? Did you run into any obstacles doing so?
A.
We turned to the sources that we covet most and use time and again in our work. We were so delighted that everyone said yes.
